Hibernation

My readers (all 4 of you) this is a post to let you know that I am going into hibernation. The weather in Akron sucks so I will be spending most of my time indoors working on my still yet to be completed thesis. If i do blog, it will like be about middle Byzantine churches and fresco decoration. Anyone out there well versed who would be willing to give a hand? (I'm talking about "provincial"/Rhodian middle Byzantine architecture done under Nicaean rule with a fresco program similar to the churches in Lysi, Cyprus??)

*Sound of crickets chirping.*

I will likely still be running here and there, and most definitely will be yoga-ing as that is one of the few activities that can truly center me. But overall, I fear my blogging will suffer. (Not that I've been so on the ball lately, you know - life and stuff.)

And seriously, any Byzantinists out there - help.....

  1. Too bad you weren't working on the the Komnenian period, you know, with the Elmali Kilise and other rock sanctuaries of Cappadocia, and the Churches of the Pantokrator and the Theotokos Kyriotissa in Constantinople...because then I could totally help you....

What's that you ask? No! No, I did not copy that from Wikipedia....Hurumph, last time I offer to help you...

  6. Stay with your thesis, you will finish. It's tough getting it done, mine ran 220 pages (a real marathon of boredom). But, once you finish it, a weight will disappear from your shoulders. Agree with you 100%: grading essay exams over finals weekend sucks; I don't miss the thesis or blue books one bit.

  7. I'm a published amateur Byzantinist, but my knowledge of architecture is limited to the Theodosian walls.

  8. Are you going to Cyprus? Beautiful island! I visited a bunch of little churches in smaller villages in the south while i was there for a couple weeks in 2005. If you go- hit me up for travel advice! I have a good friend in Larnaca.
